Ammophila breviligulata

Also known as Beach Grass. Sold in bundles of 100 bare root plugs, the grass will reach approximately 12-36 inches tall. Recommend to plant within 3-4 days of pickup dates.

Plant Applications

– New landscapes anywhere in sand
– Swimming pool areas
– Erosion trouble spots along the lakeshore, soil stabilization

Planting Time

– March through May or September through December while the plants are dormant

Planting Method

– The plants are dipped in a moisture retaining polymer, but, must not be allowed to dry out severely
– The root must be planted 6-8 inches deep

Plant Spacing

– 6 inches for steep slopes – 4 per square foot
– 8 inches for moderate slopes and sites with high visibility – 2 per square foot
– 12 inches for flat ground
– 18 inches for economy – 1 per 2 square feet
– 6 inches to 18 inches depending on the need

Plant Fertilizing

– Not necessary, but it does promote color and size
– Broadcast any balanced fertilizer (not too high in nitrogen) in the Spring or Fall. For example 10-10-10 or 12-12-12

Plant Growth

– First year, a clump of 5-6 shoots will form
– Second year, a dense stand of grass will cover the area

Pick up only. Order with our Tree Sale deadline is April 11, and the pickup date is Friday May 2nd 10:00-6:00 and Saturday May 3rd2 from 9 to 1pm. Location of pickup is the Berrien County Youth Fairgrounds, 9122 US Hwy 31, Berrien Springs, MI 49103. Use Office gate across from United Federal Credit Union. Do not use the Shawnee Road Entrance, use the US Hwy 31 Entrance.

Our liability for the viability of plant material ceases when plants are picked up.
